Fund Raising Event

One of the most popular and successful ways of making money is to sponsor a fundraising event. Politicians and celebrities do it all the time, along with numerous companies that have become known for this type of activity.

Your group can choose from among many types of fundraiser events, such as a pancake breakfast, a spaghetti dinner, a golf outing, or a carnival. Someone in your organization should obtain information about several of these and discuss it with the other members to determine which one is most likely to work for you.

Events of this type should be broken down in various tasks that can be delegated to a number of members. For example, someone will need to request an information packet. Another person or two can be in charge of publicity. Someone else will have to make arrangements to use the building or grounds for the event. At least two people should share the management of registration or fees to help ensure accountability.

Signs, parking, maintenance, and volunteers are additional tasks that need to be shared among members of your organization. It’s a good idea to get people signed up for these things early to avoid scheduling conflicts later. Add a list of back-up people if possible in case someone gets sick or is otherwise unable to serve as planned.

Keep track of who does what on something like a master list. That way, if someone forgets or needs to swap duties, the switch can be coordinated neatly and visibly. It’s always a good idea to send a note of thanks after the event to let volunteers know how much they are appreciated. They are more likely to offer their services again if they feel the effort has truly been noticed and resulted in some valuable service to the organization, which should be mentioned briefly in the note or certificate of appreciation.
